Pops

Why ask me to look at a graduate sales positions or franchises when you already know I enjoy what am doing now. Always hinting you can do this or that. Parents grrrr I’ll rather start up my own idea not someone’s franchise until I do am working my way up via this route!!!!

..It’s been so nice to meet and work alongside you!..honestly really wish you all the best with your career ambitions and with life in general.

Don’t know if we’ll ever work on the same project again but it’s been great having your presence in the PBS and ECS assignment teams!!

You’re more than just any old colleague, proper on my wavelength and you’re like one of my old school homies!!

Hopefully will see you on another project elsewhere (not in Croy-Done!!..hehe)

Formal Bit:

I worked with Richard Forjoe on the same test team on 2 recent assignments when on the account – The first assignment was the high profile PBS where we worked on 2 major releases (350/375) of the PBS web applications (July 2011 - April 2012) and the second assignment was another up and coming web application ECS .

During the time I worked with Richard I found him to be an absolute pleasure to work with, He has been an asset on both projects as he is a well rounded colleague who has the skills and ability to provide assistance in a variety of areas, he has carried out core test process tasks during test prep and execution phases as well as deputising/covering the lead, finding solutions/taking ownership of technical issues/tools/environments, Proactive in producing test items which enhance/improve existing processes which in turn have provided a wider benefit for the whole team. Also noticed Richard helps make the lead/managers life easier by thinking of useful solutions to laborious tasks – such as HPQC reporting options. Richard uses his own initiative to discuss and makes valid suggestions to senior project mgmt to help address any issues or things that may have been overlooked. He is very aware of many procedures, standards and techniques. He is strong contributor and a very helpful member in the team; he quickly picks up things that others may have missed which can be important.

His experience, knowledge and seniority definitely has shown and I believe he has the capabilities to be a very good manager/lead one day. Overall he is very easy to work with, friendly, approachable and a great team player and team member to work with. I really enjoyed working with Richard and if I had the chance to work with him again, I happily would.

Feedback -

Please see feedback regarding Richard Forjoe who joined me on the TUO (Tell Us Once) Project for DWP on 23rd May 2011 to assist in performing OAT (Operational Acceptance Testing).

This was (and remains) a challenging exercise with constrained timescales and many open-answer questions that range across the complete project and not just “Readiness for Operation”.

How would you rate the standard of written deliverables produced (Below Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, NA)

Exceeds Expectations: Richard has worked on the Master OAT spreadsheet with vigour and determination being the principal vehicle by which OAT workstream is deployed, assessed and delivered.   He liaises effectively with his fellow team members.

How would you rate the standard, frequency and sufficiency of updates and information provided (verbal and written) (Below Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, NA)

Meets Expectations: Richard works consistently managing his workload efficiently and confidently.  This gave me assurance as a PM that the key delivery vehicle was well maintained, current and properly annotated.

How would you rate the timeliness of delivery of all testing products, e.g. reports? (Below Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, NA)

Exceeds Expectations: Richard is diligent in capturing information and tenacious in following through actions.

How would you rate the standard of delivery of all testing products? (Below Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, NA)

Meets Expectations: As Item 2 above.

How do you feel Value has been added to the overall testing process? (Below Expectations, Meets Expectations, Exceeds Expectations, NA)

Exceeds Expectations: Richard advised me using his background test knowledge, for instance warning of the dangers of adding clarification to existing documents “in-flight”.

What (if anything) were you particularly impressed with? (written)

Richard is a calm dedicated Test Analyst demonstrating a persistent attitude in achieving the goals identified.  The test exercise was (and remains) a difficult task and Richard took an active part in my Reviews and the interim approaches to try and secure a number of definitive Compliance’s.

What could be improved upon for next time or any recommended area for growth? (written).

When requesting information from respondents avoid colloquial English , use a statement such as:

“Your input is key, please can you respond soonest.

Please let me know any questions”

Any other feedback at this time? (written)

I appreciate the assistance Richard gave and I’d happily have Richard on my team in any future project.

I worked with Richard on the R375 PBS project since January 2012 to March 2012 from the Beeston office.

During our time on the R365 PBS project, Richard worked with me as a ‘team member’ which showed his cooperative approach.  He showed sensitivity and recognised my feelings and training needs as the project progressed.  When I encountered a   ‘problem’ Richard would be supportive and motivate me to use my skills to assess the situation and bring it to a conclusion.

Richard was flexible in his approach with me in varying situations and was prepared to change his own view and approach in the light of new information.  Richard showed to me that he was able to cope with the pressures of changing demands and circumstances.

It was a pleasure working with Richard.  His knowledge and skills as a tester showed me how it should be done!!

Project Review - 090512

Reviewer’s Comments / Observations about Achievements:

Fully met. Richard showed real dedication in helping to ensure successful delivery of the project on the fixed delivery date.

He showed capability as ‘features lead’ for two of the main functional areas of R375.

He was responsible for testing some of the more technical areas of the system, involving XML and soapUI. He was very thorough and did an excellent job in test preparation and execution of those areas.

Reviewer’s Comments / Observations about Achievements:

Richard communicated well and built good working relationships with other teams, particularly the developers responsible for the areas for which he was features lead, and his ‘opposite number’ in UAT who was responsible for testing the same functional areas as Richard.

He supported the two testers in Beeston by mentoring them and providing a communications channel to keep them informed of what was happening in Croydon and so making them feel more part of the team. One of the testers in Beeston commented of Richard that gave him his time and patience “which enabled me to get a solid foundation in PBS”.

Reviewer’s Comments / Observations about Achievements:

Defects clearly written.

Shared some of the test lead’s workload by producing test schedules for each release and providing snapshot reports for the team which showed progress against schedule.

Contributed to process improvement by suggesting improvements compared to R350, including walkthroughs with business analysts and a risk analysis workshop. Identified lessons to be learned from the project. Richard was asked to represent the test team at the project Lessons Learned meeting.

Reviewer’s Comments / Observations

I have been impressed by Richard’s performance during this period. He ensured that the functional areas for which he was responsible were tested successfully within a very challenging timeframe. I particularly appreciated the support he provided by preparing and maintaining a test schedule for each cycle.

Probation Outcome - 281011

Comments: Richard has not only been proactive and shown a great attitude on his recent project but has shown enthusiasm outside.

‘I have just realised that I didn’t really explain what I had seen today. It was a blog entry on EuroStar to get ideas for inspirations on testing. I think he is probably the first of UKSI Test Services to have put a blog entry anywhere outside Atos.

Here is the link to the page http://www.eurostarconferences.com/blog-posts/2011/6/9/what-inspires-our-testing-discipline.aspx’

and ‘In case it had not come up in Richard’s H1 review (shame I only spotted it today) I was pleased to see yet another indication of Richard’s proactive attitude.

As background Richard tracked me down in June to also discuss his ideas for calculating the cost of (value of finding) defects and for ways to improve the Test Summary Report. Its good to see that he is making that extra effort to contribute and get new ideas.’
